Product overview


Permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSMs) utilize permanent magnets to provide the magnetic field required for electromechanical energy conversion, eliminating the need for an excitation power supply. During synchronous operation, the rotor carries almost no current, resulting in negligible rotor copper losses and a significantly improved power factor compared to asynchronous motors. The reactive current in the stator windings is reduced, lowering stator copper losses. Under the same conditions, PMSMs exhibit higher efficiency than asynchronous motors, with actual operating currents reduced by over 15%. The temperature rise is approximately 20K lower than that of three-phase asynchronous motors with the same power and speed, while the power factor reaches 0.96 or higher. The rated efficiency is 1%–8% or more higher than that of three-phase asynchronous motors, meeting or exceeding the Grade 1 efficiency standards specified in GB30253-2013 "Energy Efficiency Limits and Grades for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors." PMSMs also demonstrate significant advantages in other aspects:

  1. Synchronous operation eliminates speed fluctuations, preventing additional pipeline resistance losses when driving fan or pump loads;
  2. High starting torque and overload capacity can be designed, addressing the issue of "oversized motors for light loads";
  3. Wide high-efficiency operating range: within a load range of 25%–120%, efficiency remains above 85% and power factor exceeds 0.9, ensuring notable energy savings;
  4. High power factor improves grid power quality, eliminating the need for reactive power compensation devices and maximizing the utilization of substation equipment capacity;
  5. When paired with variable-frequency drive systems, PMSMs offer better dynamic response than asynchronous motors;
  6. Higher power density: for the same power and speed, PMSMs can reduce the frame size by at least one level compared to asynchronous motors;
  7. Diverse topological structures enable customized solutions for a wide range of applications and extreme conditions.
